Why I'm Voting for Jim Montague

by Karen Bisignano

As a mobile home owner in Santee I enthusiastically support Jim and his quest for a seat on the City Council in Santee. Jim has shown his leadership both in his park of Meadowbrook and in the City in general.

At Meadowbrook he is a champion in the litigation with Manufactured Home Communities, also known as Equity Life Style Properties, owned by billionaire Sam Zell who bought the park at a bargain basement price in a 16-park package. MHC / ELS soon demanded a one time payment of an average $900.00 from each resident as a back payment of monies they claim was owed them but in reality, was not. This park owner's total disregard for the economic situation of some of the seniors living in that park was a total disgrace.

Five years later that park owner has been defeated in lawsuit after lawsuit and is still threatening Meadowbrook residents in a merciless campaign against our senior citizens, many who lived through World War II. I call that generation the Last Great Generation as they have the integrity, fortitude, courage and principles that some of the more recent generations seem to have lost along the way.

As a member of the "Independent Citizens Oversight Committee," Jim is carefully watching to make sure the 60 million dollars we citizens of Santee voted in to modernize our local schools is spent to provide the end results the bond measure promised.

Trusted by former employers with programs with multi-million dollar budgets, Jim Montague is well prepared to see that the City of Santee maintains the fiscally responsible budgets that we have been accustomed to.

I urge you to cast your vote for James G. Montague on November 4.

What Does Jim Montague Stand For?

Jim’s positions on many issues of concern to Santee residents are detailed below.

City Budget
Jim stands firm in his belief that the City of Santee must have a balanced budget.

Infrastructure
Jim believes preventive maintenance is key to ensuring both fiscal responsibility and quality-of-life for Santee residents. He is concerned ensuring our infrastructure is properly maintained, including our public streets, sewer systems, water main pipes and sprinkler systems.

Education
Jim is very concerned for the future of our community. He will work to ensure a high level of achievement for students in Santee schools, and to make sure that there is a good communication link between the Board of Education and the City Council. He will continue to work, as a member of the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC ) to assure the completion of the school modernization program currently in progress will be in accordance with Proposition R, the school bond measure.

Library
Jim is a member of the Santee Library Committee, and strongly believes that our City needs a modern Public Library.

Taxes
Jim is a fiscal conservative, deeply committed to NO NEW TAXES.

Senior Issues
Jim will continue to lobby for the City of Santee to take ownership of a new Senior Center and remove the Center from the jurisdiction of San Diego County.

Las Colinas Detention Facility
Jim is opposed to an expansion of the San Diego County’s women’s jail located in Santee. If a larger facility is needed, he believes it is best for the facility to be moved to an area near other detention facilities near Brown Field.

Santee Senior Center
Jim has lobbied for the City of Santee to take ownership of a new Senior Center, and remove the Center from the jurisdiction of San Diego County.
