Jim’s positions on many issues of concern to Santee residents are detailed below.
City Budget
Jim stands firm in his belief that the City of Santee must have a balanced budget.
Infrastructure
Jim believes preventive maintenance is key to ensuring both fiscal responsibility and quality-of-life for Santee residents. He is concerned ensuring our infrastructure is properly maintained, including our public streets, sewer systems, water main pipes and sprinkler systems.
Education
Jim is very concerned for the future of our community. He will work to ensure a high level of achievement for students in Santee schools, and to make sure that there is a good communication link between the Board of Education and the City Council. He will continue to work, as a member of the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC ) to assure the completion of the school modernization program currently in progress will be in accordance with Proposition R, the school bond measure.
Library
Jim is a member of the Santee Library Committee, and strongly believes that our City needs a modern Public Library.
Taxes
Jim is a fiscal conservative, deeply committed to NO NEW TAXES.
Senior Issues
Jim will continue to lobby for the City of Santee to take ownership of a new Senior Center and remove the Center from the jurisdiction of San Diego County.
Las Colinas Detention Facility
Jim is opposed to an expansion of the San Diego County’s women’s jail located in Santee. If a larger facility is needed, he believes it is best for the facility to be moved to an area near other detention facilities near Brown Field.
Santee Senior Center
Jim has lobbied for the City of Santee to take ownership of a new Senior Center, and remove the Center from the jurisdiction of San Diego County.
